Over 150 people tried Stand Up Paddleboarding for the first time on Sunday June 10, 2012. Alpine Accessories and Boardworks brought Stand Up Paddleboards to the North Beach at Three Oaks Recreation Area in Crystal Lake Illinois. Although paddleboarding has been around for some time on the coastal areas, stand up paddleboarding is relatively new to the midwest. Many had not heard about SUP until learning about our event.
Dryland lessons were given by the Alpine Accessories staff before participants tried paddleboarding for free. For most it was the first time ever on a stand up paddleboard.
